the design intent was to create an affordable, efficient, unique and attractive residence for the 21st century, concentrating on sustainable design solutions for a 45- year old
client. as a professional woman that works from home as a writer, editor and publisher, the design solution incorporates a home based office, and areas for privacy and solitude. the residence is designed to be barier- free, as the client wishes to age in place. the design solution also incorporates materials that promote sustainability, and consideration of the client’s 14-year-old son who has severe asthma, as well as considers trends in technology. the design solution reflects a warm contemporary rustic and natural feeling through the color palette, materials and finishes selections.
